Ella Stroh is an Indiana Partner Biologist with Pollinator Partnership. She received her Master's degree in Entomology from Purdue, where she studied native bees and the pollination services they provide to specialty crops. In her current role, she provides pollinator-friendly conservation technical assistance to producers around the state, with a focus on small and specialty crop operations. Presentation: Planting pollinator habitat to maximize crop pollination services: Insect pollination is essential to agriculture, particularly fruit and vegetable production. Gaps in crop pollination can be addressed by providing habitat for pollinators in agricultural landscapes. This presentation will cover the ‘why, where, and how’ of integrating pollinator habitat into a variety of production systems, particularly specialty crops. Content will include an overview of why pollinators are important, where growers can integrate habitat on their farms, and how they can take the first steps towards establishing habitat. There will be a focus on presenting scalable guidance for operations of all sizes, including information about technical, financial, and marketing resources to help producers achieve their goals.
