Author Bio

Sara Cloft is a Poultry Scientist working with Darrin Karcher at Purdue University Department of Animal Sciences. She is an enthusiastic advocate for solving pressing problems facing poultry producers and recruiting people to get involved in poultry. Her current research work is on understanding the impacts of heat stress experienced by laying hens and pullets in cage-free and outdoor access systems. She has started the #PurduePoultry initiative to connect scientists, staff members and students across Purdue University that are working on poultry programs together to pool resources and catalyze new efforts. The aim of all her efforts is to start conversations because she believes that ‘how we’ve always done it’, is an acceptable answer.
