Rebecca is the Urban Ag Extension Educator for Lake County Purdue Extension. She has degrees in Wildlife and Forestry and Natural Resources from Purdue. She also works with the Northwest Indiana Food Council, coordinating Indiana's first farmer apprenticeship program. She received her Permaculture Design Course (PDC) in 2023 from Rhonda Baird of Sheltering Hills Design. She has plans to complete her Permaculture Teacher Training and begin her diploma process for permaculture this year. She utilizes permaculture design in her work with Master Gardeners, urban farmers, larger diversified farmers, and group facilitation.
Presentation: Permaculture 101: Participants will learn the basics of what permaculture is and how they can implement permaculture principles and practices on their farm or homestead. Permaculture combines sustainable and regenerative agriculture and community practices, using closed-loop systems and working with nature. Some topics covered include example permaculture designs, permaculture zones, principles, and terminology.
